A Relaxing Day at the Doctors Office

The founders of Joshua Medical Center recognized that changing their office environment could change the negative perceptions around going to the doctor. The Visioneering team jumped at the chance to prove them right.

The Opportunity

Not often are we presented with such a clear and ambitious vision for change, and the Visioneering team embraced the challenge set for by Joshua Medical Center leaders.

The Vision

Through our highly collaborative Basecamp Experience, we worked with JMC leaders to align on how to best bring their vision to life. It didn’t take long to hone in on the positive attitude people have when going on a cruise—relaxation, peace, enjoying the people around them. This is the spirit the Joshua Medical team wanted to convey in their new building.

The Execution

With the vision set, the Visioneering team went to work bringing the cruise life to light. Entering the medical center from the left (port) side, as you enter most ships, you are greeted with breezy ocean colors and a sandy-colored floor. Brilliant pops of color contrast the natural-toned flooring in the newly renovated Front Lobby. Live music plays in the common areas, imbuing a relaxed atmosphere. Environmental graphics, impactful lighting, and strategically located TVs convey health and wellness, while encouraging exercise and healthy eating. To add to the ambiance, the medical staff wear Hawaiian shirts, and regularly host luaus!

Future plans include adding balconies that look like life rafts with a pop of orange, a roof deck with string lights for hosting events on what feels like topside on a cruise ship, and potentially creating a vertical circulation on the south end of the building in a curved bow form.
