A Sanctuary for Renewed Community
With their membership displaced and widely scattered, church leaders looked to restore faith, family and fellowship in a community devastated by Katrina’s flooding.
01
The Opportunity
God’s plan led Franklin Avenue Baptist Church to an entirely new site in East New Orleans. Visioneering Studios Architecture helped launch it into reality with Master Planning and Design for the sprawling 21-acre campus.
02
The Vision
Through our innovative Basecamp Experience, the Visioneering team worked with leadership to understand and enhance the church’s vision and its community-focused mission. The focus was to be a beacon of hope for the people of New Orleans.
03
The Execution
The almost 125,000-square-foot campus includes a 3,500-seat worship center, classrooms for preschool through adults, offices, a commercial kitchen, a 2-story fellowship hall, and a gallery that wraps around the worship center to encourage community. The 130-foot tall illuminated glass steeple topped by a solid white cross has become a New Orleans landmark, and serves as a powerful reminder that true faith can never be washed away.
From the Client
“Visioneering took what we wanted, put it on paper and then made it happen. Now God has blessed us with the church of our dreams.” – Fred Luter, Lead Pastor
