A Sacred Space
Mariners Church Irvine isn’t just any church campus. The Visioneering Studios team knew that adding a chapel to this sprawling, yet picturesque place would require a new level of inspiration.

The Opportunity
Mariners Church leaders envisioned a chapel like no other. A sacred place of serene elegance within the larget church campus.

The Vision
Through our creative and interactive Basecamp Experience, the Visioneering team and church leaders found inspiration in Exodus chapters 26-27. The vision was to create a sacred space resembling the Wilderness Tabernacle as God described to Moses.

The Execution
The chapel’s modern gothic chapel features quartzite stone, adding a timeless permanence to the structure while also complementing existing campus buildings. Gothic styled “Hammer Beam” Trusses are clad in ipe wood throughout. The dominant building material was light, and the team used extensive glazing to bring light into the interior space through gabled end walls and finger spaced slat walls along the sides.
